Hoodie Symbolism

From this article on the BBC about a disgraceful piece of neanderthal behaviour.

The offenders, who ran off, wore hooded tops.

Presumably they also all wore trainers, or shoes, or underpants, or jeans.

The humble hoodie has been appropriated by the media as a symbol of feral youth. It's a bit like the Union Jack, leached of any positive symbolism and tainted by association with a minority of violent fuckwits. I wear hoodies; they are practical in alot of ways, and I don't mean for covering your face from the ever more intrusive CCTVs, but more in dealing with this countries fast shifting climate. Many a day I have been saved from horrible hair frizz by taking advantage of a hoodies protection from the drizzle. How now are us hoodie wearers who don't kick puppies to death to escape the association so clearly cemented in the public consciousness?
